One of the most popular tourist destinations in Crete is Spinalonga Island. This is in the north east of Crete and used to be a leper colony. It also has a famous fortress that?s well worth a visit. Spinalonga is now unoccupied and you can visit beautiful small pebble beaches and stay in the nearby Elounda seaside resort.
