There is nothing like a very cold spell to focus your attention on next years holiday, and the recent blankets of snow that have certainly fired up many peoples plans to start the search for next years holiday destination.

Lanzarote holidays tend to appeal to a broad range of holiday makers principally because they offer visitors the all round holiday experience with a range of excellent attractions as well as an incredible climate that delivers wonderful weather all year round.

At the moment money is tight in many countries, including the UK but now that the pound is doing better against the euro Lanzarote once again looks like one of the best value holiday destinations around. Lanzarote offers superb value for money, for example travelling to the island is very affordable - especially if you live in the UK. Post credit crunch everyone is looking for a good value deal and Lanzarote certainly offers this - especially now that sterling has recovered some of its value versus the euro.

The cost of flights here is not as expensive as you would first imagine and conducting a quick search online will quickly bring up plenty of Lanzarote flights from various airports around the country. Places to stay are also very keenly priced for example you can find loads of apartments and villas in Lanzarote available for rent for surprisingly low rates, especially outside of peak periods. And if you´re planning on buying any souvenirs you´ll also be glad to hear that Lanzarote - like the rest of the Canaries - is a duty free zone.

It´s highly unlikely that your holiday in Lanzarote will be washed out by the weather as the sun shines here virtually very day of the year and rainfall is scarce. This is thanks to the islands location close to the West African coast so visitors can expect to soak up temperatures in the mid 20s in winter and into the mid 30´s Celsius during the summer months.

There are around 90 beaches on Lanzarote and most of them are made up of golden grains, rather than the black sand that is common on some other Canary Islands such as Tenerife. There are also excellent beaches at the heart of each of the islands three main tourist resorts. You´ll need to book Lanzarote car hire if you want to see the most spectacular stretches of sand though as these are located away from the main resorts - with Famara on the North West coast widely regarded as the most dramatic on the island.

Car hire is also an excellent way of seeing some of the other attractions on the island too which many find far more preferable than being couped up on a coach excursion where you will be unable to stop if you spot an ideal photo opportunity for example.

If you’re the sort of person who gets bored just lazing by the pool or on the beach then you´ll be delighted to hear that Lanzarote has a lot more to offer visitors that want to experience anything else the island has to offer. There´s a number of fascinating sights to explore here - such as the islands surreal volcanic region which was created by eruptions in the 1730´s. This whole area is now one of the most popular National Parks in Spain and should not be missed. And if that isn’t sufficiently stimulating then take in the many works of the well known local artist César Manrique, who worked with this surreal terrain to create a series of seven unique visitor attractions such as the Jameos del Agua and the Mirador Del Rio.
